Bookaversary/NaNo Updates
First of all: HAPPY BOOKAVERSARY TO IVY!!
Honestly, it feels like Ivy has always been out in the world, and I don't even remember which year we are on now.
Literally just checked the copyright date and realized IT'S BEEN THREE YEARS!
I can hardly believe it. Three years since the PMC has found a toehold in the publishing world. So much has happened with it since then, too. Now, the final book in Lex's tale is about to be released and I'm not sure how that day is going to affect me, either. I guess we'll find out.
Onto other news, tomorrow is the first day of NaNoWriMo and I thought I would drop by to give you some insight into what I plan to do with my entire November (and probably the rest of the winter).
From the past two Novembers I have learned that I cannot use this month to do rewrites. It is far too stressful and I usually scrap the entirety of what I'd written in the months that follow. Therefore, I will no longer make that mistake and instead will reserve rewrites for spring. Which means: I get to start a new project!!!
The one I will be working on is something that I've had in mind for a few years now, and the idea of it came to me while I was at work washing my hands. Fun times. It's also one of the very few ideas I have that is not fleshed out. So this will be one of those writing experiences where every turn is a new surprise.
That being said, I guess I should give you at least the title and some idea what it's about, huh? Here it is:
CIBOLA
What if the City of Gold was a person?
What if the Fountain of Youth was made of blood?
Zaniyah’s blood holds the key to eternity, and too much of it has been taken from her. Held as a prisoner centuries ago, the horrors she endured are now the inspiration for her victims. Men and women once able to bend her to their will and sip at the years she’s collected are now found in suspended horror, with each drop of blood drained from their bodies.
She’s not the only hunter in the shadows, however, and another has been tracing her path through the ages. As modern advances make tracking easier in the information age, Zaniyah’s last handful of victims may be the ones that see her back in a cage. This time, there may be no generous Necalli to set her free.
Unbeknownst to her, she is not the only one whose blood transcends time. But they know about her.
Well, that's it! Hope you all are looking forward to seeing what it becomes. I know I am. If you'd like to keep up with the progress (because I doubt I'll be updating here regularly) you can either Like my FB page or add me as a Writing Buddy on the NaNo site or even keep tabs on my Twitter (which I've been trying to be more active on; forgive the use of my real name instead of the pen name).
Let the challenge begin!
